No Career Ladder? Build Your Own - with Allison Denney of Rebel Massage

What does career advancement actually look like in massage therapy?

This week, Amy Bradley Radford sits down with Allison Denney, founder of Rebel Massage, to talk about something our profession doesn't discuss very often: there really isn't a traditional career ladder waiting for us.

Amy and Allison have both spent decades in massage therapy and have built very different careers by creating opportunities that weren't already there.

Their conversation moves through entrepreneurship, confidence, failure, social media, teaching, massage education, AI and the growing value of human touch—and how Allison's own unexpected path eventually became Rebel Massage.

But the bigger question is this:

If massage therapy doesn't give you a career ladder, how do you build your own?

For some therapists that may mean becoming more valuable at the table. For others it might eventually mean teaching, mentoring, creating, specializing, developing a product, or finding a niche nobody else has stepped into yet.

Amy also puts one of her own ideas on the table: what if experienced massage therapists could create another stage of their careers by passing what they've learned into another set of hands?

It's a candid conversation between two veteran massage therapists about opportunity, longevity, freedom, and figuring out what comes next.
